About Black Man Abroad
When I’m dying and think back on my life, I want to have lived a life of zero regrets.
If you can say: “Damn, my life was the shit. I did what I wanted and lived a life of fulfillment, happiness and good emotions.” Then you had a good life in my books.
Instead people mope around doing shit that they don’t want to do because they feel the pressure external social pressures to do things they don’t want to do.
The number one thing I want for you to get out of this website is a simple philosophy.
“Do what makes you happy and if it doesn’t make you happy stop doing it.”
I’ve cut off friends because of this…
I’ve dropped out of college because of this…
I’ve quit jobs because of this…
But the outcome is positive…
Such a simple philosophy. But one of the hardest to embody.
I’ve been happier. No more bullshit. I only do things that make me more fulfilled.
What is BMA?
Black Man Abroad is a self- improvement site that teaches men how to live abroad.
Black Man Abroad is about the escape from mediocrity, consumerism and bullshit negative emotions that may come with living in a western society.
The Black Man Abroad is an un-orthodox, nomadic black man who got tired of the USA, left and found happiness elsewhere.
In 2013 I was on a full ride scholarship for football. That sounds great in theory but there was a problem.
My friends were lazy, unmotivated and brought you down if you had any sort of ambition for yourself.
There was nothing to do but get drunk or do drugs.
I was truly wasting my time at college learning about “trig functions” or the “Shang Dynasty”. I love knowledge only when it is practical and useful.
So I planned my escape.
I quit. Everything.
Football. School. My job.
The same night I bought a one way flight to Australia. I didn’t know anyone. I heard Australia was racist. And I only had 1000 dollars to settle in with.
But I had everything to gain and nothing to lose.
